HICAP Volunteer Coordinator
The Medicare Health Insurance Counseling & Advocacy Program (HICAP) is seeking a Volunteer Coordinator. This staff position will have the responsibility to recruit, train, recognize and maintain communication with HICAP volunteers across our six-county region. A large part of the position involves the coordination of volunteers during their certification training and organizing ongoing training sessions on Medicare topics as volunteer Counselors learn and require additional coaching in their work with the public.
The successful candidate will have a strong ability to coach and motivate people while being structured and able to juggle multiple projects and timelines as trainees progress through various stages of the 3-month certification process.
HICAP has just 5 paid staff yet many volunteer counselors spread throughout the region. We work remotely several days a week and also in the Petaluma office of Senior Advocacy Services, 2 days a week. The Volunteer Coordinator is a full-time position and requires the candidate to complete training after hire and become certified as a HICAP Medicare Counselor. Benefits include medical, sick, vacation, FSA and retirement contributions after a period of time.
