Senior Advocacy Serivces has coordinated the Elder Justice Initiative since 2017. SAS is also the Long Term Care Ombudsman Program for Sonoma County serving residents of long term care as well as the HICAP Medicare Counseling Program for six North Bay counties.
Sonoma County Area Agency on Aging prioritized Elder Protection in 2006 forming a workgroup of advisory council members.
Sonoma County Human Services Adult and Aging Divsion and Adult Protective Services have lead Elder Justice efforts in Sonoma County since 1999.
Family Justice Center partners with the county Human Services Department in the Elder Justice Initiative including housing the Elder Advocate from the Council on Aging.
Council on Aging is a Victim of Crime Act funded partner providing care coordination and an elder advocate for case management, supporting victims of elder abuse through a partnership with Health and Human Services and the Family Justice Center.
Sonoma County District Attorney leads Elder Justice efforts & has been a key partner since the creation of the Elder Protection Unit in 2011. The DA’s Office also has an active Consumer alert to sign up for frauds and scam updates: https://sonomacounty.ca.gov/DA/Consumer-Alerts/
Legal Aid is a core partner also funded by the Victims of Crime Act to provide an Elder Law Outreach Attorney that is able to travel to the client and supports community members over the age of 55 regardless of resources.
West County Community Services has long participated in elder protection and spreading community awareness about Elder Abuse and Neglect through the Russian River Senior Center.
Petaluma People Services Center coordinates an array of services for South County residents including programs for seniors.
The North Bay Regional Center brings the perspective of persons with developmental disabilities to the Elder Justice Coalition.
